During my time here at NC State, I have become involved with various clubs and organizations and have taken on various leadership roles. When I'm not studying or participating in campus activities... I enjoy reading, traveling, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
Society for Human Resource Management at NC State
The NCSU Society for Human Resource Management strives to develop members by creating a culture that encourages individuals to reach their greatest potential through personal and professional development. I first joined the NCSU Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in the fall of 2016 during my sophomore year. In the fall of 2017, I became the SHRM VP of Professional Development. My duties include developing relationships with local and regional organizations on behalf of the chapter, researching and publicizing career opportunities for members by searching social media and local job boards, identifying RWHRMA (Raleigh Wake Human Resource Management Association) resources and events that NCSU SHRM members can utilize, and attending weekly exec board meetings to help with plan events for the chapter. I am also responsible for planning and conducting one meeting each semester. This past semester, I held the October Meeting which focused on Cultural Communication in the workplace and how different cultures can affect business norms as we know them.
University Ambassadors
- As a University Ambassador at NC State, I give prospective students and families tours of our campus and convey to them why I chose to be a part of the wolf pack. This position has strengthened my skills of public speaking, leadership, and recruiting... perfect for my future plans in HR! I also assist in the planning and operations of the semi-annual NC State Open House, volunteer at various campus events related to recruiting and selecting new students, have developed a vast knowledge of NC State's history, and attend monthly meetings to collaborate with other ambassadors and work towards improving our tour routine. I became a University Ambassador in the Spring of 2017.
BB&T Emerging Leaders Certificate
The BB&T Emerging Leaders Certification Program is based on the model that beliefs drive behaviors - which in turn produce results. This highly interactive session gave me a better understanding of my individual leadership style and how to lead others more effectively. I was given the opportunity to identify my signature strengths and leadership preferences.
Alpha Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega
As the largest women's organization in the world, Chi Omega provides a steady, consistent guide for members to create a path of purpose and success. Chi Omega inspires women to pursue their purpose, in whatever way they choose to define it. I became a member of Chi Omega in the fall of 2016 and later served as the Director of Programming from August 2017- January 2017. In this position, I oversaw a committee of 13 cabinet members who worked to plan and organize events for a chapter of 160+ women, increased team efficiency by implementing bi-weekly meetings and encouraging cross-coordination amongst cabinet members, monitored the chapter schedule to ensure effective timing of planned events, and communicated with the rest of the executive board on behalf of all committee chairs. Chi Omega's philanthropy is the Make-a-Wish foundation, and we hold various fundraising events (such as our semi-annual Pancake Dinner) to raise money for this cause.
National Society of Leadership and Success
- Sigma Alpha Pi is the National Society of Leadership and Success. I was selected to join the North Carolina State University Chapter of this organization in January of 2017. They provide their members with educational opportunities and steps for success through monthly meetings, academic support, and career guiding events.
